Bio / Background

This rather eclectic recording features four friends, three of which grew up together in Hawaii. Since then, bassist Benny Rietveld has played with Sheila E., Miles Davis, and currently is the bass player for Santana and lives in New York City. Sax player Allen Won also lives in New York, teaching and playing in many popular Broadway shows as well as local orchestras and big bands. Noel Okimoto lives in Hawaii and plays daily with the Royal Hawaiian Band as well as playing around town for many visiting jazz artists. Jamie Fox has worn musical hats as diverse and far-ranging as being musical director for Joan Baez, playing with Blood, Sweat & Tears, and teaching guitar and gigging in New York City.

There are a couple of great special guests as well, such as Joanne Brackeen on piano, and Lyle Ritz on ukelele.
