Bio / Background
Composer Frank Hillis, no stranger to the Chicago music scene, created National Wrecking Company in 1998 with a different take on electronic music.
Tired of useless categorizations and debates -- hard & fast vs. ambient? digital vs. analog? grandiose vs. indie? -- NWC throws the rules aside with original works assembled using whatever means necessary. Trip-hop, big band, ambient, industrial, downtempo, experimental, old school, new school, dub, rock . . . all styles are available for manipulation.
NWC's arrangements weave together a dreamscape of sounds, synths and beautiful melodies over live percussion and sequenced back beats. While the individual songs may emulate many styles the experience as a whole is accessibly joyous, perplexing, and unmistakably National Wrecking Company.
