Heartfelt and lush vocals over well-crafted dark pop songs with jazz overtones.
Bio / Background
This is the second album released by San Francisco-based singer/songwriter, Dianne Nola. Stark and dark tracks recorded solo as she accompanies herself on guitar or grand piano.
The title track is a reference to the synchronicity that appears throughout our lives and how it gives it meaning. In addition to poles, Nola continues a questioning commentary on the loss of and emotional ties to the subject of time itself.
Her vocal prowess, emotive and soulful, is compelling against a backdrop of well-crafted pop songs with jazz overtones. She scats and swings, shuffles and brings you into her chamber.
In addition to the solo tracks, there are four songs with her back-up band, Driving on Ice. These local jazz players create an infusion steeped of Steely Dan meets Rickie Lee Jones.
All songs are written by Nola, except Elton John's Take Me To The Pilot.
