A collection of eight songs roughly in the tradition of artists like Elvis Costello, Randy Newman and Tom Waits.
Editorial review
New York singer/songwriter Noam Weinstein follows his independently released debut, Enough About You (2001), with Above the Music (2002), a similar album featuring a different band. Here, Weinstein recruits drummer David Berger, bassist David Richards, and pianist/guitarist Jimi Zhivago to accompany his vocals, guitar, piano, and songwriting. More than anything, the resulting eight-track album showcases Weinstein's writing talent. Both his lyrics and his songs deserve notice, and his backing band may be subtle, but it brings depth to these songs that many singer/songwriters don't have. ~ Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide
Bio / Background
Called "a thrilling songwriter" by The Nashville Rage, "a young Elvis Costello mixed with Randy Newman" by PasteMusic, and "a talent who croons lovely, subtle songs" by The Boston Globe, 29-year-old Noam Weinstein (rhymes with "No-Bomb Einstein") grew up in Cambridge, MA and began performing at Boston-area clubs as a teenager.
Noam moved to New York City in 1999, where he became involved in the local singer-songwriter community and released his first two EPs, Enough About You and Above the Music, which led to spots at South by Southwest and The Songwriters Hall of Fame and airplay on independent radio across America and Europe. In 2004 he released his first full-length album, Probably Human, and in 2006 he followed it up with We're All Going There.
In addition to his own shows, Noam performs regularly with Boston's Naomi Sommers, Nashville's Jess Tardy, and New York's Greta Gertler, three striking artists who have also recorded Noam's songs. To learn more please visit eNoam.com.
