Contemporary Christian rock with a southern rock and pop influence.
Bio / Background
New Son Band was formed after a response from a youth revival Stephen and James played. The youth seemed fired up and hungry for a more 'modern' worship. We talked about the idea, played a few 'specials'... like at Christmas time, and a few songs here and there.
God had already blessed several of the members with songs they had written, but were merely kept to the small group of friends/musicians.
After a little further discussion, prayer, and calling some old friends...here we are New Son! We are so thankful and grateful for the opportunities God has given us to share our testimonies through song. We'll continue to do so, as long as He continues to give us the strength and opportunities.
We’re just average guys from Texas that share the same mission to reach the world with the gospel of our Lord Jesus through the music we play. We hope to show everyone that will listen, the love, comfort, grace, and mercy that Christ has given us.
↓ more ↓We hope to convey a testimony and message that God has given us through our music.

How long have you been playing, singing, writing...or what ever it is that you do in the band? I've been playing and singing almost all my life. I started writing just a couple years ago.
Did you play in any other bands before New Son? I've played with the Forrest Four and my family's gospel group almost all of my life. I also played in Do South, and for other artists. I am also the worship leader and youth pastor at my current and past churches.
James Clark (Vocals - Lead guitar)
Guitars: Fender Stratocaster (custom), Fender Nashville Telecaster, and a Carvin 780c.
Amps: 1984 Marshall JCM800 2203 and a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe.
Pedals: TS-9, MXR dyna comp, TR-2, MT-2, NS-2, H20, cry baby, BBE sonic stomp, and a volume pedal.
How long have you been playing, singing, writing...or what ever it is that you do in the band? I've been playing for roughly 17 years. Guess I should be better by now. LOL I started writing and singing around that same time.
Did you play in any other bands before New Son? Yes, Chance's Are..or something like that...back in high school. Then it was on to Do South, which actually got me to thinking more serious about music and my playing - we did pretty good. Then it was solo-living room jams and open mic nights for a few years. Warren Smyrl (South First Band) and I played the scene for a short while together. Played at church with Stephen until NSB was born. I still catch an occasional song writer's night here and there.
Nick Edwards (Vocals - guitar)
Guitars: Carvin 780c Acoustic guitar, Carvin AE-185 electric, 1996 Fender American Edition Telecaster
Amp: Fender Hot Rod Deluxe
Pedals: Route 66 pedal, Boss AC-2, Boss SD-1, Boss BD-2, Boss MT-2, SonicStomp, and an Original Cry Baby wah.
How long have you been playing, singing, writing...or what ever it is that you do in the band?
I've been playing for about 9 years, I've been singing around 13 years and I've just recently started writing in the last year and a half or so.
Did you play in any other bands before New Son?
Well, I've played in a couple of Praise and Worship bands in Oklahoma and Texas, and I am currently the worship leader at Caprock Springs Fellowship in Post, Texas.

How Long Have You Been Playing, Singing, Writing:
Started playing in the school band when I was 10 but didn't get my first
kit until I was 33. So I've been playing seriously for 5 years. I
don't sing and I don't write - I leave that to the professionals.
Did You Play In Any Other Bands Before New Son:
I started playing with the "Thousand Hills Band" 5 years ago which is a
local praise and worship group. I am currently playing with our praise and worship team at church in Lubbock. I also play with a group of Christians here in Lubbock called "The Wise Guys", playing mainly retro stuff from the 50's, 60's & 70's.
Influences: Paul Leim, Chris McHugh, Lonnie Wilson
