Beautiful in their power and finess, a timeless band with eclectic sounds and female vocals that are just good. For Real.
Bio / Background
There's a magic that happens when the six friends who call themselves Newcomers Home takes the stage-an indefinable spark made up of equal parts innocence and aggression-which has ignited audiences across the country. The appeal of this Colorado-based sextet is rooted in the songwriting and instrumental prowess of its members, which, combined with their live energy and emotion, has sent critics raving about the band's "mesmerizing live performances" and "fiercely loyal national fanbase.
Newcomers Home, which began as a dorm-room musical experiment, played its inaugural gig in December of 1998 at a small coffee shop on "the Hill" in Boulder. At that juncture the band members didn't realize that they were embarking upon their post-college careers and what would later be called "one of the quickest rises in local music history" (Wendy Kale, The Colorado Daily).
↓ more ↓Just in time to graduate from CU Boulder, Newcomers Home released its debut album, Miles from Saint Louise (2000), followed by its second album, In the Hour (2002), which ranked as the 4th best-selling CD in Boulder (Daily Camera, May 2002). Combined, the two CDs have sold more than 10,000 copies off stage, over the Internet, and through independent record stores. Live at the Boulder Theater, released in late 2003, marked the Coloradoan's third release on their own Deep Sea Dog label. All three releases have been supported with constant national touring.
Newcomers Home consistently packs the Fox and Boulder Theaters at home, and the group also has no trouble filling rooms like NYC's The Bitter End, Nashville's Exit/In, San Francisco's Sweetwater Saloon, LA's The Mint, and other venues on their own and as a supporting act for bands ranging from Leftover Salmon, Pat Green, and the Jazz Mandolin Project, to Dada and The Spin Doctors. Newcomers Home has been garnering national radio airplay, and their song "Drive" was recently included on A3 radio giant KBCO's "Live from Studio C" disc. What's more, their song "Chase Me" was recently featured in an episode of the popular WB TV series "Smallville." In addition, via their website, www.newcomershome.com, the band has cultivated their growing fanbase across the country and around the world, sending internet-purchased albums and merchandise to places as far away as Japan, Australia, the UK and Hawaii.
As attested to by the sales of three independent albums, the dedication and support of an active national fanbase, relentless touring and web activities, along with the support of hard working management and street teams?Newcomers Home is a potent force whose time is now.
