Classic acoustic songwriting meets multilayered progressive rock.
Bio / Background
Neil Campbell is a composer, song-writer and multi-instrumentalist. Working in collaboration and as a solo artist he has accumulated a large number of compositions drawing on a wide range of musical influences and interests.
The Neil Campbell Collective is the performing vehicle for Neil's progressive songs and instrumental pieces - featuring lyrical vocals, lush vocal harmonies, classical guitar (often electronically processed with looping, fast delay lines and morphing kaoss pad textures), a powerful, versatile, and often virtuoso, rhythm section powered by drummer Mark Brocklesby, and the lyrical contributions of cellist Nicole Austin.
The band's CD '3 O'Clock Sky' was released in May 2005. Here's what some of the reviewers wrote about it:
"polished progressive rock harking back to the lineage of Focus and King Crimson...Neil Campbell's guitar playing is exemplary and at times beautiful" Caleb Hungerpang, Live Magazine
"Musicianship of the highest order...
↓ more ↓plenty of fine percussion (Mark Brocklesby)" McCullough Crane, Classic Rock Society
"Catchy melodies, strong harmony vocals, carefully crafted structures...this is an album that just grows and grows with each listening...", Bob Mulvey, Dutch Progressive Rock Pages
"Eight tracks of thoughtful, well arranged songs...There are touching moments, beauty and melody here.", Chris Brown, Liverpool Daily Post
