Loud, brash rock and roll locked down like a deadbolt. This Dayton, OH quartet deliver visceral uppercuts with precise aim.
Bio / Background
Hailing from Dayton, Ohio, the epicenter of the rust belt’s drain-spiraling unemployment pit, Ohio’s Murder Your Darlings deliver their rock and roll with unsmiling venom. It’s the kinda rock best served through the one functioning speaker in the car with one headlight still working on the way to another place where you will not, cannot, and never will, find work. Formed from the ashes of Ohio's two loudest bands (The Vincents and The Igniters), MYD have been amazing audiences throughout the midwest and east coast for the past four years. Their eponymous debut CD on Reptilian Records displays the darkness of the downtrodden working man and an
entire generation of southern rockers, then skronks it up with northern hardcore punk nihilism, and a ladeling of mid-west noise-rock buzzsaw gravy. Murder Your Darlings churns out the brand of twangy metallic rock favored by the Jesus Lizard, Nirvana, The MC5, and Black Flag.
↓ more ↓Fall of 2007 sees the release of the follow up CD, "Modern Man Blues" coming out on the band's own Toxic Newt record label. Teaming up again with Workbook Studio co founder Jon Chinn, MYD have recorded mammoth album full of huge guitars and punk rock angst. Featuring cover art by world famous Cleveland artist Derek Hess, the album is destined to be another cult classic by the infamous Dayton quartet. This may be the first you’ve heard from ‘em, but damn sure will not be the last. Murder Your Darlings weighs in heavily, thunderously, unflinchingly.
“. . . killer riffs wound tight as hell with massive
vocals make this band a deadly force in today’s
rock underground.”
-Carbon 14
“Loud, brash rock ‘n’ roll that would give some o’
them Scandinavian rocker types a run for their
money.”
-Razorcake
“MYD would have fit in perfectly with the
pioneering early ‘80s punk movement. They’re a
nice combination of Black Flag’s hardcore spirit
and unheralded musicianship with just a tiny,
important bit of the Germs’ recklessness.”
-Punk Planet
“. . . tons of huge guitar riffs. MYD have a
monstrous sound that is completely missing
from most rock and roll today. It sounds like
Lemmy singing a lost Nirvana song.”
-Maximumrockandroll
“Their sound is locked down like a deadbolt,
delivering visceral uppercuts with precise aim.
The live show is a furious onslaught of abrasive
rock and roll.”
