Songs you know by heart
Bio / Background
...This is one of those albums that took me off guard. I figured it was going to be another "run of the mill", alt-countryish, band but i was wrong. All of the aforementioned influences are extremely present on the album however So Little Left To See hits hard at the beginning and quickly worms it's way in to you brain with fun, knee slappin', dreamy, & powerful, country tinged urgency. Weird is definitely a stand out however one of my personal favorites has quickly become Eyes. Eyes is the type of song that you love or hate.... It is so damn catchy that you hate it because you can't stop singing it or love it for that same reason. Also the chorus maybe considered something off of HeeHAW! but it is great just the same....

...The band has been compared to Uncle Tupelo in the past and I'm going to reiterate that theme.
↓ more ↓What separated that outfit from many current artists emulating their sound is UT were always willing to skate the thin ice on a long pond. You'll find Takeuchi and friends following that routine and succeeding just as well on So Little Left To See. There's a dreamy, yet rugged and urgent, quality to just about all of these songs - adding charm where it's least expected. Couple that with strong songcrafting and more than capable musicians and it allows for quite the memorable release... (for full review please see link below)

That same night, the Mars Bar hosts the farewell show by local trio the Murderers' Accordion, before frontman Steven Takeuchi and his wife make a move to the Big Apple. But don't cry yet: This is also the record release fete for their new album, So Little Left to See. With its mix of smooth and crunchy textures, the disc should appeal to fans of Bobby Bare Jr. and the C&W incarnation of the Supersuckers. Standouts include the ramshackle train song "Eyes," and "Drone," an atmospheric instrumental that bridges the gap between Santo & Johnny and the UK shoegazer scene.

Main Murderer's Accordion songwriter Steven Takeuchi comes off like a less world-weary Bob Dylan, while his band emulates the rough-hewn country punk of Uncle Tupelo. Takeuchi left Seattle for New York City just after he released this CD, but he has promised to return for shows.
