If The Finn Brothers got together with The Doobie Brothers to create something new and engaging, this is sort of what it would sound like. This is the album you listen to with friends while drinking beer and having a great time.
Bio / Background
Everyone's inner child loves a catchy, feel-good, pop song. Now imagine a graceful hodgepodge of pop's simplicity with R&B groove, funk movement, classic rock guitar riffs, and shimmering vocals. This comes close to summing up The Mundaze. With a retro-leaning edge, this bouncy acoustic-based quartet continues to refine their sound in emphatic live performances that are getting Northern Californians up off their asses.
Lead singer and songwriter, Shannon Bradley, has a straightforward, strong voice that relies on feel and emotion over crutches and attitude. He crafts songs with an effortlessly funky combination of Jason Mraz-ish balladry and neo-soul with lyrics that stand out of the crowd. Justin Anderson brings a solid groove to the band with a powerful confidence and rock-steady talent that speaks to his years of drumming for a variety of acts across the musical spectrum. Lead guitarist, Chad Dorado, drives the real spark of the band's originality.
↓ more ↓His inspired approach to his instrument brings complex counter-rhythms and jaw-dropping solos to the mix. TJ Tyler on bass pulls it all together with his melodic and syncopated style that adds texture while always tending to the pocket. Dorado and Tyler's harmonies add a richness normally employed by national touring acts that compliment Bradley regardless of where he takes the song.
Formed in 2002, and re-shaped into the current line-up in 2005, The Mundaze have been building a steady following of loyal fans known for coming early and staying all night long. They have been in the final round of Live 105's Battle of The Bands, featured in the SF Chronicle, performed live on-air at radio B93.1, and filmed for television on The BBC. With their February 2005 independent debut release of These Are The Daze, they continue to build momentum and have one hell of a good time along the way.
