Bio / Background
Rarely will you hear "old school" jazz and the "smooth" jazz sound in one collaboration. Until now. "Graces" is the debut CD of Bay Area Bassist/songwriter Mark Lahargoue. Born and raised in San Francisco, Mark's been a part of the Bay Area music scene working and performing with some of the scenes best artists; (Clifford Haynes, John Lee Hooker, The Freeze, Second Nature..)
Now living in the peninsula, Mark has hooked up with some of the hottest players and created a new contemporary cool sound. Beautifully written jazz compositions with phenomenal musicians contributing their musical influences are very apparent in this effort. The band can swing, with the tune "Between the Lines", explore rhythms of blues and funk, "Quickstep Lane & "the Gift", and break it down with ballads like the sure to become a classic, "Song for Mom".
