Bio / Background
Mike Bogle, a versatile artist, was nominated for a Grammy Award for
his arrangement of Chick Corea's composition "Got A Match?" An
accomplished trombonist, pianist, vocalist, songwriter, composer, and arranger, he is currently Chair of Professional Writing and International Programs at McNally Smith College of Music in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Before moving to Minnesota in 1994, Bogle served as Associate Director of Jazz Studies and Director of Music Media and Technology at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he directed/taught Jazz Band II, Vocal Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combos, Jazz Improvisation, Arranging, Composition, Music Media, Recording Techniques, and Computers in Music.
Bogle wrote his first big band chart at age 14, graduated high school
at age 16, and entered the University of Miami School of Studio Music and
Jazz on a performance scholarship that same year. By age 18, Dr. Bogle had
already performed with Tom Jones, Diana Ross, Linda Carter, Burt Bacharach
and others.
