Bio / Background

Miguel Timoteo Gurule was born on July 17, 1985 and raised in Alcalde, NM. Miguel started singing at the age of 6 when his father asked him to sing with him while practicing with an acoustic guitar at home. Miguel’s father played with a few Northern New Mexican bands, so rancheras and cumbias were nothing to new to the youngster. Miguel was raised in a musical environment, and dreamed of someday recording his own New Mexico music. However, stage fright got the best of him and he placed music aside for a few years. Years past and it was time for Miguel to graduate from high school. Miguel conjured up his courage and auditioned to sing the National Anthem. Miguel was greatly surprised when he found out he had been selected from 12 candidates. Thereafter, music had Miguel’s full attention.

Miguel started recording his debut album “El Primero” in December 2005 at Chavez Recording Studio with Steve Chavez as the engineer.
