Guitar driven Melodic Pop Rock 'n' Roll. Evolved from bands like Springsteen, Tom Petty, and similar groups. What's nice about the songs is they all have a driving feel to them, they don't drag one iota.
Bio / Background
- Voted one of best undiscovered bands of 2002 by Jonathan Clark Q104.3 FM New York City.
- Joe Hartlaub, Music-Reviewer.com, January 2003.
"I've been playing it for friends for a couple of weeks now, and the uniform reaction has been 'DAMN! who is this guy?' If there was any justice in the world, they wouldn't have to ask."
- 5 Stars, Independent Songwriter Magazine - Indie Pick of the Month, August 2002.
- Stacey Board, The Muse's Muse, November 2002.
"I'm having trouble here. All the music reviewer clichés come to mind but I will try to beat them off. "Infectious hooks", "pop gems" "smart and clever"... OK why fight it. They all apply. The way the songs wrap around instead of neatly fitting it makes you listen more closely, and that's when you catch more of the cleverness and wit."
- Bill Ribas, NY Rock.com, May 1, 2002.
"Together, they make rock and roll American style, which is to say they've sort of evolved from bands like Springsteen, Tom Petty, and similar groups.
↓ more ↓What's nice about the songs is they all have a driving feel to them, as you can sense the movement of the rhythm section, and the songs don't drag one iota. Damn glad to meet you too, Phil."
- Keith "MuzicMan" Hannaleck. Music Dish, October 2002.
"The Phil Mann Band is a rock 'n' roll pop band on a mission to please with their release "Peace." The lead singer Phil Mann reminded me of Michael Stipe of REM with the way he inflected his words and his smooth and intelligent use of lyrics. It is so nice to hear good rock music with a singer you can understand. I cannot tell you how many bands that I have heard, loved their music, but did not have a clue what they were saying in a song. Consistency and originality is another issue with a lot of music that is committed to disc today, this is not the case with this group. And its no wonder that this is such a finely crafted pop and rock album with such a wonderful sound, Gary Katz of Steely Dan is behind the glass to turn the knobs and fine tune this top-rate production.
This is the kind of music that will find a way to your stereo equipment repeatedly, whether you're at home or on the road. Do you like infectious toe-tapping rock and pop music? This is your one-stop shop for that experience.
Phil Mann and friends have found "Peace" in rock 'n' roll, and they do it all so it leaves a lasting smile in your heart and an imprint in your minds eye."
