Bio / Background
Mel has been a full time musician for the majority of her life after leaving school at 16 years of age to pursue a live music career. He first band was the successful 7 piece group 'This House is Jumping' who performed live throughout South Australia and Victoria, produced numerous recordings, (with one single reaching the top 40 SA-FM charts), and worked as a small independent record label during the late eighties and early nineties.
During 1993 Mel felt the need to take her music in a new direction and formed the musical fusion band Emerald Sun, with Yanya Boston on drums. Emerald sun had an almost cult following in Adelaide, released one album 'did you ever wish....' and collaborated with other artists including independent theatre companies.
During 1995 Mel met the future members of Fruit at a local song writing organization S.C.A.L.A (song writers, composers and lyricists association). In June 0f 1995 Fruit was formed after collaborating at a Women Performing event in Adelaide.
