This folk rocker's striking vocal performance rests on a foundation of solid guitar work and inventive songcraft. Framed by a sprinkling of string arrangements, sax, clarinet, and a dash of percussive pop glitter, "Dirty Shoes" is an indie standout.
Bio / Background
17 year-old Megan Johns grew up in the small urban oasis of Champaign, Illinois-- a town surrounded on all sides by endless fields of corn and soy. Dirty Shoes tells stories of a day rambling through this town of coffee shops, dreamers, maniacs, and bums.
Musically, the album features an impressive array of artists, incorporating acoustic and electric guitar, and everything from cello to djembe. Dirty Shoes also features the bassist Peter Hughes, from the indie favorite, Mountain Goats.
Quotes:
"From the moment that the CD first began to play I was blown away. Johns' 10 original songs on 'Dirty Shoes' are a welcome relief from the usual sappy love songs and teen angst that fill commercial radio"
