Blues with elements of roots rock and roll, funk, and latin rock.
Bio / Background
"The Feeling" is Stanley Milton's second all Original album. The songwriting is full of strong dramatic elements in the arrangements that tip the hat to blues and early rock influences without being strangled by them. The guitar playing is inspired by all the greats in blues, psychadelic, surf and even some classical stylings. "I miss the Ice Man" is a tribute to Albert Collins which cleverly incorporates some of Mr. Collins' song titles into the lyrics. Much attention is given to variety without losing the continuity of the album as a whole. Although Stanley can "guitar-sling" with the best of 'em, this album shows off with some great saxaphone solos as well(Dwight Bement of Flash Cadillac and Gary Pucket fame bops along on baritone sax on a few cuts), and puts the emphasis on the songs themselves- I.E. lyrics, arrangements etc. There are even some nice horn charts on the title track, "North Shore Angel" and the funky "Cheaters Never Win". A rare (For Mr.
↓ more ↓Milton) wah-wah peddle guitar solo also graces "Cheaters". Stanleys voice can morph from plaintive whispers to growling authority, and although most would classify this as blues, there are many complimenting elements from other related genres that keep it from getting "samey". A sampling of the cuts might appeal to fans of "West side" Chicago blues to Hendrix to newer artists like Los Lonely Boys; for example- Check out "You were Mine" and "There's A Chill Inside". Imagination and intensity are the name of the game here. This is NOT avante-garde fare, but expect the unexpected!
Stanley Milton's Mean Streak plays mostly in the mountain west areas but with this release and another one currently under developement, a wider audience is sure to come to appreciate the sincerety and true artistry of this veteran musician and his talented freinds. -Sixto Wise
