Bio / Background
BARRY MCLOUGHLIN is a Dublin, Ireland born and Canadian raised troubadour who resides in Sioux Lookout, North Ontario. The born singer-songwriter credits Gordon Lightfoot and Harry Chapin as his earliest influences. Barry penned his first song "Why" at age 8. McLoughlin's intimate song, haunting voice, and narrative acoustic performance are compelling, engaging, and refreshing. Barry McLoughlin shares a kindred spirit with the solo artist who can sit on a barstool, with acoustic guitar in hand, spinning tales of the heart that expose the joys, sorrows, and frailties of the human condition.
Barry's "forbidden love" song 5th AVENUE won best original song in Folk Alley's inaugural May Open Mic contest and was added to the Folk Alley Ohio stream. Barry's North Ontario "train ballad" THING CALLED LOVE was selected for inclusion on Volume 21 of the Acoustic Rainbow Sampler along side Mr. "American Pie" Don McLean.
