I was pleasantly suprised at this neatly done composition, which is on the dark, visceral side, set into four movements none of which are emotionally distinguishable from each other. Largely based around strings, this is definitely music to be solemn to; there are brief counterpoints of hope to the overall tone, but the final output is very uniformly one of anger, despair and sadness. These are meritous movements, a delightful, deep marriage between orchestra and electronica; it manages to create an impression of a strange hybrid between a Jerry Goldsmith arrangement and (for some reason only known to myself) the sharp electronica of Wendy Carlos' "Tron" soundtrack. Don't ask me why, and don't assume that this odd film soundtrack feeling I get from it in places will be universal - but regardless of this, the value for such a great composition is beyond excellent.
