Pop rock with horns
Bio / Background
THE MARTINI SHOT is an original six-piece pop rock band with horns based out of Southern Colorado. The name, "Martini Shot," refers to the Hollywood slang term for the last shoot of the day. Most of the band consists of music teachers; however, all members have an established and educated musical background. The Martini Shot has released two original projects. The first self-titled album is currently sold out, while the second album, “Dry & Dirty” has sold over one thousand copies since it’s release in January 2005. The Martini Shot was voted “Best Cover Band” of 2004 and 2005, by readers of the Colorado Springs Independent, who also voted them "Best Original and Cover Band" in 2006. They have also been voted “Best Local Band” of 2002 and 2005 by the readers of the Pueblo Business Journal.
The Martini Shot Band began to form in September of 2000; however, the current line-up of musicians wasn’t completely solidified until August 2003.
↓ more ↓The Shot first began to play in the town of Alamosa where the majority of the band attended Adams State College as music majors. Now, they have become regular fixtures at some of Southern Colorado's most prestigious events like Festival Fridays, B Street Bash, the Chili and Frijoles Festival, and the Colorado State Fair. The Martini Shot also draws consistent sold out crowds to popular Colorado Springs establishments like The Ritz Bar and Grill, Southside Johnny’s, and the Thirsty Parrot.
The pop rock music of the Martini Shot uses radio-friendly ideas with horns to create catchy originals, while their shows are characterized as energetic, spontaneous, and a whole lot of fun. Major influences of band are Barenaked Ladies, Reel Big Fish, and 311. The Martini Shot prides itself on playing to a wide variety of audiences.
