Original rootsy folk rock
Bio / Background
Mark Lennon, grew up in a small, college town in North Carolina amongst cotton fields and dilapidated tobacco barns. Early on, his hometown was awash with an eclectic mix of bands playing everything from classic rock to American roots music in small, downtown clubs.
He began playing guitar and performing with various groups throughout college. From bluegrass, to rock, to jam bands, Mark melded his guitar skills and vocal talents to suit the groups he performed with. Along the way, Mark found interest in the banjo and mandolin, two instruments that help define his folksy, freewheeling style of music.
He began writing songs about what he describes as “The Good Ol’ Music” after moving to Los Angeles in 2001.
“It’s the music I know is still out there,” Mark said.
↓ more ↓“I write songs about trying to lead a simple life in a big city, songs that poke fun at the nonsense of politics and pop culture, but at the same time, pay homage to our country’s great songwriters like Woody Guthrie and Johnny Cash.”
Today, Mark continues to play solo and with various musicians in the L.A. area. 2006 will see the release of Broken, mark’s sophomore album. It features musical contributions from Eryc Whiteley, Jerry Zacharias, Jason Koornick, Jacob Morgan, Mike Schwartz and more.
