Bio / Background
Maggie’s Choice is an independent rock band located in Portland, Oregon. The band’s textured, original music is delivered through a mixture of acoustic and electric guitar sounds, spacey piano and floating vocals and harmonies.
Primary songwriters Abe Cohen and Mateo Bevington began playing together in 1999 as part of the acoustic-oriented band Casa Del Bev. After three years of writing and performing, the duo had developed a healthy catalog of original material. In 2002, they joined with Mateo’s brother Sean to experiment with a more electrified sound. Chris, a long time friend of Sean’s and an accomplished vocalist, soon joined the band on bass. After several months of gigging in small Portland clubs, the band wooed Marian to join them on piano and keyboards. Marian, who had played with various styles of jazz and modern piano since a young age, added a subtle texture to the band’s sound.
In 2003, Maggie’s Choice released their self-titled debut album.
