Like fall leaves delicately landing in a pile of weathered friends, Lylas whispers her songs on the breaths of slow picked guitars, lazy banjos, and whistful croonings.
Bio / Background
Lylas... "Makes a Friend," is a document of old and new. This mini-album marks the first, official release of these Nashville locals who have been writing and playing since 2000.
Fronted by songwriter, Kyle Hamlett, the group began in a quiet, little corner of Murfreesboro, TN. Being the college town that it is, numerous music acts get their start in this small scene. However, Lylas spent most of its time shying away from the live show, and concentrating on recordings which are showcased on this release.
"... Makes a Friend" is a dichotomy of early and new material. The first half of the album consists of tracks recorded as early as 2001 while the last half suggests where Hamlett's songwriting is headed.
The essence of Lylas is, on the whole, rooted in a more traditional method of songwriting.
