Creative music with a purpose, with a vision of love from all around the world and into infinity.
Bio / Background
The Lifetime Visions Orchestra (LVO) was a joint effort between Joseph Jarman and Chris Chalfant. The underlying purpose was to bring the philosophies of Buddhism and Aikido that were practiced at the Brooklyn Buddhist Association. This is not a religious CD. It is based on freedom and compassion and space to unfold with creativity, commitment and responding to sounds moment-to-moment, listening to others in a way that allows space and sense of unity and not competition. The music is both lyrical and dynamic, meditative and compelling. The 40 years of AACM and Art Ensemble come through strong in this recording, as do the individual voices of Rob Garcia and Chris Chalfant.
The Lvo's opening concert, intended to be a memorial tribute to John Coltrane on September 23, 2001, became a fitting and inspiring musical offering in honor and remembrance for the victims of the September 11 tragedy.
↓ more ↓The LVO went on to open for the 2002 Vision Festival in New York City and performed at the NANCY JAZZ PULSATIONS FESTIVAL IN FRANCE. Their first CD, Live at the Vision Festival is available under Jyaku Sound, a project of the Brooklyn Buddhist Association.
