Biography:
Born 1978 in Switzerland as son number three, Thomas started producing his first musical erruptions on a harmonica, later on he changed to accordion. At the age of 9 the piano hit Thomas' way. Taking lessons at the public music school where he got his first instructions in how NOT to play the piano. Thomas was influenced by his older brothers, both musicians. Imitating main themes of famous TV-shows ("Na sowas", "ALF", pretty funky stuff!!) and practicing classical paper music, that's what he did in his first few years of playing the piano. In 1994 he got accepted to study at the "classical" department of the Musikhochschule Basel (Conservatory). He received his Masters Degree at the age of 19.

The studies went on one year later at Jazzschool Basel for two semesters. After being selected as a recipient of a generous European Scholarship Award he moved to Boston/USA, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music in 2002.
Supported by amazing teachers and inspired by soulful musicians, he gained confidence in the improvisatory idiom, using the piano to express himself. Studies with Fred Hersch, Hal Crook, Laszlo Gardony, Ed Tomassi, Joe Lovano, Lester Menezes and Tiger Okoshi made him progress as a musician and composer.
Performances as soloist, in ensembles and as featured soloist with orchestras and BigBands are part of Thomas' schedule.
In these days Thomas is working as a teacher and freelance musician back in Switzerland.
