All My Rainy Days by Lucky Day

The Washington City Paper proclaims, “Lucky Day creates some of the most ear-pleasing Brit-poppish sounds we’ve heard in a while,” and listeners agree: Lucky Day’s home-studio demo "Look at Me Now" debuted in the top 3 in its first week on The Washington Post’s MP3 site (6/05) and "Rainy Days," the single from their upcoming EP "All My Rainy Days," reached #4 (11/05).

Only weeks after forming the band, Lucky Day recorded their 6-song EP at The Mouse Trap in Louisa, Virginia with engineer/producer Stewart Myers (Agents of Good Roots). They went into the studio as a three piece - Victoria Patchen (vocals), Brian Huber (guitar), and Adam Gierisch (bass), not yet having met drummer Dave Ray, who has since joined the ranks of Lucky Day. Brian Jones (Jason Mraz, Rachel Yamagata) sat in on drums, and Daniel Clarke lent his talents on keys. Fred Kevorkian (White Stripes, Ryan Adams, Dave Matthews) mastered the EP at Avatar Studios in New York City.

While the release of the EP is slated for April, advance copies are already garnering praise from music enthusiasts, DJs, and reviewers alike. Z104 spun the single from All My Rainy Days on their Capital Scene show, and their songs have been broadcasted on other radio stations and podcasts around the country. The band’s songs move from moody and mellow (as in their single Rainy Days) to upbeat and raucous (as in their power pop gem Time Will Only Know). Whatever the style, the melodies are catchy and the lyrics are accessible, focusing on everything from rocky relationships to world views.

The official EP release party for All My Rainy Days is April 15 at Jammin Java in Vienna, VA; the band will share the stage with popular Connecticut-based band the Alternate Routes. In addition to the DC area release, Lucky Day will travel to New York City for a second EP Release Party at Kenny’s Castaways April 22, and will continue to tour the East Coast throughout 2006 to promote "All My Rainy Days." The EP will be available nationwide on Awarestore and at various other music outlets this spring.
