Bio / Background
The wife and husband duo of Laurie Rose Griffith & Peter Mealy have been performing together since 1995. They were voted Fredericksburg's Best Duo for 2001, and were nominated for the Governors Award for Artistic Aceivement in Virginia. Laurie and Peter have been nominated for 8 WAMMIES and their CD, "Tocoi Light was voted Best Debut Album of The Year by the Washington Area Music Association (WAMA). "Tocoi Light", comes "Highly recommended" from Dirty Linen magazine, and has been hailed by the Washington Post for the duo's "Lovely voices, deft guitar work and fine songs." Laurie and Peter have performed at the prestigious Philadelphia Folk Festival, and were finalists at the Kerrville Newfolk Competition. They have showcased at the Falcon Ridge Festival and have opened for such national acts as Dar Williams, Jorma Kaukonen, John Gorka, Janis Ian, Chris Smither and Saffire.
Laurie is a compelling singer and gifted interpreter of great songs.
