Down Tempo Industrial Trip Hop
Bio / Background
The Crucible is a classic play by Arthur Miller and lost masters was fortunate to be involved in an fantastic production of it. This original score ties elements of the play to the current state of the world.
Here's a breakdown on the tracks...
detune - The first track on the album and the first track in the pre show mix this was also the first track I recorded. I love the sound of a symphonic band or orchestra tuning up, one instrument starts and piece by piece they all come together. Since I don't work with traditional instruments I did it with the sounds that I intended to use for the myth of time so that they could transition relatively well.
the myth of time - There is a thought I've had on time and the theory of relativity that says that time does not go in a line. That time is actually one point and all things are happening at once and we are limited to only seeing a portion of reality that we call "now".
↓ more ↓With this, when people say that "history repeats itself" it is really the same thing happening but in our "now". Witches to Communists to terrorists to (insert your enemy here) we are basically living the same pattern.
dance to dawn - The director added a scene to open the show with the girls dancing the night before the first scene. I made strange music for dancing. There is also some latin in there but that's all I'll say, don't want to spoil it for you.
a soft word - The plot of the play hinges on a man giving into temptation. I thought of times in my life with similar situations and put together an instrumental which aims to feel like that. The daydreaming, the guilt of thoughts, the choice to give in or to not.
decay - When we are lost.
1158 - There is a different feel when you know of a tragedy before it happens. When it's a surprise you don't have time to think of what you'll say or how you'll act but when you know before it you have the luxury of determining your legacy. There is more but, again, I don't want to spoil it.
All in all this was a great experience and I hope that it means as much to you as it does to me.
About lost masters:
when instinct takes over.
when genres collide.
when distraction feeds focus.
For over a decade he has worked as a producer and musician. His unique style melding into the industrial sound. Alone at night, however, he worked on music of a different sort. Experimental yet palpable those recordings stayed private, until now.
2006 marks the first public release of these past works in the form of the EP "THE FALL OF ROME" and also new works in an original soundtrack for a production of Arthur Miller's "The Crucible".
Slated for release in 2007 is the first full length studio album for lost masters, "midnight tragedy".
Echoes of the former band, symbiotic.deconstruct, still ring here. The industrial heritage, however, has been fused with hidden musical inspiration. What results is fresh and original, enjoy.
