Folk/Pop-Rock described as the Violent Femmes having the carefree nature of Jack Johnson doing Barenaked Ladies-styled songs that alternate between novelty pop and the kind of ultra-sincere folk music parodied so well in A Mighty Wind.
Bio / Background
*BIOGRAPHY*
Lost in America is one of the most unique group of musicians ever assembled. They blend a subtle mix of satire and comedy with folk, rock, pop, and any other genre they feel like to develop their own sound and style that truly has to be seen to be appreciated and understood. Since LIA's inception, early in 2003, they have been turning heads in the coffeehouse and club scene with their witty stage banter, improvisation, and poignant song writing.
Tim, Lost in America's main singer and songwriter, found Mark, the man on the drums, through a search on the internet. After a couple of muffed attempts at getting together, they finally met up and got to jam... and it was good. So good in fact, that they started playing the local open mike circuit as a duo. One faithful evening, at one of these open mikes, Todd happened to be in attendance. After Tim and Mark's performance, Todd introduced himself and asked if they needed a bass player, and Lost in America was hatched...
↓ more ↓err, born.
Tim, originally from Connecticut via North Carolina originally started playing music to get girls. When that fell through he started playing sports. When he got sweaty he went back inside to play music. It was then he realized he was destined, to get something from the fridge... And what he got was inspiration. What if someone put one of those cans of frozen juice directly into a cup, and then mixed in something like gin? ....anyway...
Mark, originally from Kansas via the witness protection program (whoops), began playing drums in Florida under the moniker of Rasputin Stairmaster, but eventually he changed his name and location to seek fame and fortune, or maybe just a hot meal and a soda. He enjoys long walks on the beach, a quite dinner at home, fluffy clouds, and puppies... and PEZ... and beer.
Todd is originally from Cleveland... isn't that weird...
*WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING*
"I'll tell you what. Those Lost In America boys sure do have a good time. My friends Kyle and Paula were just about peeing their pants the whole set. I'm going to have to start charging LIA finder's fees if they're going to keep stealing my fans. If you're in a crappy mood or just need to lighten up, Lost In America is just the sonic hycolonic you need. "
-Will Cheshier, singer/songwriter
"One of the most electrifying, most entertaining bands in the Cleveland area."
-Tim Busbey, Ashland Times-Gazette
