Bio / Background
Lori Moran is emerging on the scene, fulfilling her family legacy of musicians and artists, but most of all, fulfilling her own innate gift of singing (evidenced even before she could talk).
Her fondest memories go back to age 2, standing in her grandmother’s kitchen listening to her family singing original tunes in 4-part harmony. Family gatherings were more akin to a cabaret than a family reunion.
Lori's piano studies began at age 5, grounding her in solid music skills and paving the way to her love of performing. High School furthered this with her numerous roles in the school musicals – imagine a stringbean Reno Sweeney (they had to pad her from head to toe to look the part), belting out “Blow, Gabriel, Blow” in Cole Porter’s “Anything Goes”. More roles followed as Lori continued her professional performing career, including Fantine, Christine, Adelaide, Dolly, Sally Bowles and Fanny Bryce, among others.

Formal training at Florida State University introduced her to the “legit” side of singing, developing her classical vocal skills. This served her well as she began her career in regional opera (Orlando Opera Company) and as a featured soloist with the Florida Symphony Orchestra and the Tampa Bay Oratorio, as well as Derric Johnson’s renowned Voices of Liberty at Disney.
What began as a debut piano/vocal duo CD evolved into a project using some of LA’s premiere musicians and arrangers including Jon Charles, John Proulx, John Pisano, Mark Z. Stevens, and Ken Wild. The result is “On My Way to You”, encompassing some of the tunes in whose skin Lori has lived and loved as a singer for many years.
Some have made the comparison of Lori to Blossom Dearie in her rendering of “Give Him The Oo-la-la”. Lori’s lilting, warm vocal quality will transport you with the authenticity of each performance.
“In my book,” says Lori, “the best singers are really storytellers. It all boils down to great lyrics, memorable melodies, and making a connection with the audience. It’s very personal to me, and that’s why I sing.”
