"Radiohead-in-your-pocket" - WhatzUp
"James Musselman, better known as Longsleeves, has been a familiar face in the area folk scene the last few years. The Youngstown, Ohio native who attended high school in Huntington before returning to Youngstown State University, began his career by performing in Fort Wayne area coffee houses.
Longsleeves then hooked up with Lee Miles' excellent lo.automatic, and was also instrumental in putting together a collective of musicians known as The Folking Revolution. With the help of Matt Dutiel and others, Longsleeves' Folking Revolution staged a series of shows with the purpose of creating a sense of community among local folk artists.
Musselman relocated to San Diego last year where he continues to work on several projects while becoming familiar with his new home. His recent EP, Killing Aesthetics, can be purchased through his website (www.longsleeves.org).
↓ more ↓The record is an excellent meld of electronics and acoustic folk that reminds me of Joseph Arthur's best work. Among his many endeavors, Longsleeves is currently collaborating with Miles (via the internet) on an electronic folk project under the name, The Black Kite. Hopefully, Musselman will return to the heartland often, where his contributions are missed for sure." - R. Mike Horan, Scene & Heard
