A Celtic cross between Mary Travers and Linda Ronstadt. Don't expect to hear that breathy "Celtic Woman" sound here. Featuring James Keigher and Donnie Macdonald (Men of Worth), John Taylor on fiddle, and Glenn Cornick (Jethro Tull, Wild Turkey)
Bio / Background
The songs on "Where the Heart Is" tell stories of leaving, returning, and longing for the places and people that color our lives. Some are love songs, like Robin Laing’s beautiful “The Isle of Eigg” and the poignant “Loch Tay Boat Song.” Others reflect the melancholy and frustration of exiles trying to make their way in the new world.
“Where the Heart Is” is made even better with the addition of backing musicians who are some of the best in the business. Donnie Macdonald and James Keigher, who perform together as the duo Men of Worth, provide a variety of instrumentals as well as backing vocals. Scottish fiddler John Taylor proves once again that he’s among the very best in the genre. And bassist Glenn Cornick (Jethro Tull, Wild Turkey, etc.) is a genius at knowing just what to play and when.
If you buy CD’s instead of downloading because you like having the inserts, then you won't be disappointed with this album.
