Bio / Background
THE LIFTER$ new CD "TEXAS TRASH" has sound that's had them compared to The New York Dolls, Hank lll, Social Distortion, The Ramones and Motorhead. with an amped up version of the Merle Haggard classic "Mama Tried" and eight new tracks including the roller derby favorite "ROLLER QUEEN" this new CD is THE LIFTER$ at their best. make no mistake THE LIFTER$ mix of mexican food, lone star beer, boozy dames, and a hell bent for rock and roll attitude, make this the definitive LIFTER$ album.

10:15 Saturday, February 1st.Finally parked seven stories above the inexplicably packed streets after circling for thirty-five minutes like some parking space starved vulture... it dawns on me - "Oh yeah...it's Mardi Gras".I wade several blocks knee deep in Zima fueled already wasted frat boys salivating in anticipation of the one night of the year they might actually get to see a naked female breast without paying a cover charge..
↓ more ↓arriving at Room710 just in time to hear the last buzzing riffs of the American Idles final song of the night...sorry boys Grampa couldn't get his ass out any earlier.
First up THE LIFTER$...Johnny Thunders meets Johnny Ramone (Tommy Mack and Michael J.)guitars held together by a tighter than a gnats ass stretched over a rain barrel rhythm section. With songs like ROOM 99 and SHE'S A DEVIL...THE LIFTER$ prove to be the perfect soundtrack for wrenchin'' on yer ride or beating down that snotty neighbor kid and taking his lunch money.Snarling his way through Conway Twittys "It's Only Make Believe" TMack proves his roots grow deeper than the East coast soil that spawned THE LIFTER$ more obvious influences...Their short set left me wanting a another song...and another beer.

Jump up out of your chair and go immediately to see The Lifters play. Take my word for it they will put you in a good mood and get you grooving. This impressive band plays a real blend of Texas punk rock that makes you sing and dance. Austin natives T. Mack (guitar and vocals), Michael J. Wane (guitar), Gary Herman (bass), and Bruce Rivers (drums) play music meant for Austinites. Sometimes they felt a little country, a little blues, and sometimes they felt like rock and roll with some cool punk rock all thrown together. From the minute they started playing they impressed me and made me notice them. This band produces a very unpretentious sound and it seems as if they just want to have a good time and hope everyone else does too. My favorite song, "Red White Black and Blue" teems with simplicity and fun. A catchy song right from the start to finish, trust me, before the song finishes you will be singing right along and bopping your head. Check out their website thelifters.net or myspace.com/thelifters for all the latest news, pictures, gigs, and sounds. -Misty Sweet-
