Piano Pop
Bio / Background
Growing up in Eastern Tennessee, Levi was playing the piano by the time he turned six years old. Within two years, he was regularly performing shows throughout the area and by the time he reached the age of twelve, he had already begun writing his own songs. At the age of fifteen, Levi recorded his first independent album and began touring throughout the south. All the while, Levi was receiving a thorough musical education, entering the pre-college music program at Vanderbilt University during his sophomore year of high school. The program allowed him to refine his natural piano skills and earn college credits while completing his normal high school requirements.
After high school, Levi continued his studies at Belmont University in Nashville with a focus on Commercial Piano and Music Business. In a city where musicians are known for their excellence, Levi was constantly challenged to meet the grade as he polished his vocal and piano skills doing session work for local writers.
↓ more ↓This eventually led him to co-writing opportunities with such well-known Nashville writers as Steve Diamond (I Can Love you Like That) and Dan Muckala (Incomplete). Levi's time in Nashville paid off when a song he penned entitled "Timeless" was recorded by four-time, Dove Award Winning group Selah (Curb Records). The song eventually reached the Top 10 on R&R's Christian Inspo Charts.
In 1997, Levi moved to Los Angeles where he quickly built a close network of southern singer/songwriters. Together, they started a monthly music series called "It Came From Nashville", which both Billboard and Details magazines have recognized as a viable force in L.A.'s rapidly growing California Country music scene.
Levi soon discovered his love of acting when he was cast in the National Tour of "Rent" in the role of "Roger". He soon realized that his natural musical talents complemented his budding on-screen abilities when cast as one of the musical leads in an independent film called "Don't Let Go". Joining forces with Brad Hawkins (CSI, Charmed), the two recorded the entire soundtrack under the watchful eye of producer Keith Allison (Paul Revere And The Raiders). The film was selected as winner of Best Picture at the 3rd annual Westchester Film Festival along with winning the Festival Award Achievement In Filmmaking at the 2002 Stony Brook Film Festival. In response to Levi's performance Variety magazine wrote, "New-comer Kreis looks like an appealingly rougher blend of Harry Connick and early Bruce Springsteen."
After completing a few short films, Levi had the opportunity to work with Bill Paxton and Matthew McConaughey in Paxton's directorial debut "Frailty". Levi played the role of Adam Meiks, baring the blame for the woes inflicted by his brother, "The God's Hand Killer" (McConaughey).
Over the last 4 years, Levi has built a strong presence for himself in Los Angeles. He contributes this, in part, to the significant exposure his music received when he became a part of "Southern Baptist Sissies", the multi-award winning play written and directed by Del Shores. Levi became involved in the production when he and Del penned a song that became the musical theme for the show. Singing "Stained Glass Window" at each performance served as valuable local exposure and helped to build a faithful following for Levi. The song was included on a full length CD entitled, "Rough Around The Edges" available for sale after the show. The album sold a healthy number of units and, in a short period of time, Levi had become a regular face in the Los Angeles music scene. "Southern Baptist Sissies" is presently being developed into a feature length film with "Stained Glass Window" selected as the theme song for the movie.
Through his various performances and productions, Levi has seized the attention of industry moguls such as Ron Fair, Jason Flom, Desmond Child, David Foster, Peter Zizzo, Monte Lipman, Bruce Carbone and Tim Devine. Even so, the road has led Levi away from a segment of the industry that "offers little creative value" in hopes of building something independently where complete freedom of voice and expression can be realized.
Levi's new CD, "One Of The Ones", is an intimate collection of songs regarding the intricacies of human relationships. Framed by nothing but a piano and his voice, these songs are carried by lyrics that are naked, vulnerable, and instantly relatable.

This is his first album released and is a great stepping stone for his career. I honestly had not heard of him prior to the Apprentice episode featuring him but people are definantly talking about him now and I expect he will go far
