"If I'm not moved by the music I write, how can I expect my listeners to become emotionally involved?" This quote sums up Dennis Leogrande's motivation to compose romantic piano music that captivates the listeners and beckons them to relive memorable emotional experiences. Composing from his heart and not from a formula sets his style apart from many of his contemporaries and presents a refreshingly unique sound. His easy yet slightly edgy classical jazz style keeps the heart and ear anticipating each melodic phrase and harmonic texture.
"Yesterday Once More" is the melding of the influences of three generations. Long impressed by the melodic and harmonic styles of jazz icons Marian McPartland and Dave Brubeck, Dennis proves that a well constructed harmony complements a unique melody. Performing along with Dennis on this CD is young pianist Anthony Bernarducci who shares the composer's musical sensibilities and contributes his soul to the music.
