The best way to describe this band: "melange" (hints of soul, rock, indie pop and psychedelia). Intrigued?

For those unfamiliar with the brilliance of Lemon Sun and looking for info, sorry this won't help...
Not at all like artificial insemination, Lemon Sun began with Rob Kolar and Chris Knight (formerly of the unknown band Colour the Sound) writing and recording songs in smelly downtown Vernon, Ca. When the noise and rotting flesh smell became too much to take, they went on a search for other band members. Meanwhile, guitar player and space age sounds specialist Mike Shapiro, left his home in Texas for Montreal, but ran out of gas in Los Angeles. Confused, and in need of cigarettes, he showed up at Chris' doorstep looking for someone to jam with. Mistaking him for Jack Black, they immediately asked him to join the band. Still lacking personnel, they pondered for several hours. Then turned to match.com.
↓ more ↓Drummer Jon Safley who described himself as "a fun loving, ymca member, who enjoys moderate to short walks," was not a perfect love match, but the only match.com hopeful under 39. Amped at the opportunity to play in a band with Jack Black, he joined immediately. Looking for a little action of her own, New York native and San Francisco / Vegas inhabitant Melissa Dougherty left Alcatraz behind to "take it to the dome" (make it big) in the land of smog and freeway shootings. Intrigued by her witticisms and keyboard talent, the band decided to lock themselves in a rehearsal studio until something happened. Unfortunately, nothing did. Fortunately, several weeks later in a bizarre coincidence they ran into each other at a singles party in downtown LA and agreed "Let's give it another shot".
Arthur Hampshire, noted philanthropist and part time humanitarian described the music as "not really like Beethoven, but not quite like Brahms either". Myspace.com member "too hot for this S$%T!" continued "you guys rock, thanks for the add!". And finally, if you've read this far, contact us at Lemonsunband@yahoo.com
