Bio / Background

In the late 90's Laurice Monica Martinez sang with James Brown. He was quoted as saying she was 'a protege' and 'one to watch'. At about the same time she featured with James Brown in the movie 'Blues Brothers 2000'. Not a bad cast to share credits with; BB King, Issac Hayes, Aretha Franklin, Eric Clapton etc etc etc.

In late 2003, BMI songwriter Dave Coe from Liverpool in the UK, teamed up with LA producer Eric Michael Cap on a new Soul Music / Funk project. Laurice was a natural choice as vocalist and the album 'Laurice' was the outcome.

Laurice's singing took the songs to a new level, from the pure 70's style Funk dance floor filler, 'It's a Funky Thang' to the Soulful torch ballad 'Give Me Back My Heart'.
