The hypnotic “Spell Remains,” is a story of reflection about a woman at a crossroads in life, who recognizes there is so much to gain and just as much to lose when making choices, the song which garnered Laura an honor award from the Billboard World Songwriting Contest; In the jazzy, 40s-style “Vacancy in My Heart” a woman sings about making her dreams come true while looking for someone new, the song which garnered Laura a 2005 Great American Song Contest Honor Award. The rousing “Living Out Loud” celebrates the passion of a woman following her dreams.

Two songs are connected by a common and powerful theme, loss. Laura’s sparse yet weepy vocals on “Without a Word” convey a woman’s emotional pain when her man leaves her, and in the autobiographical “October Blue,” Laura poignantly writes and sings about missing her father. Both allow the listener to focus on the lyric and story, brought to life by the lush tones and phrasing of her vocals.

“Hullabaloo is about reflection, acceptance, and the perspective revealed when you reach midlife,” says Laura about the overriding themes of her new CD. “The title, Hullabaloo, conveys its meaning quite well – that of great noise and uproar. So wherever you are in life, remember, you're never too old to feel proud, get loud – and make a big Hullabaloo!”

A native of NYC, Laura took the first steps of her musical journey at the tender age of seven in a performance in an all-girls summer camp production of The King and I. Through her formative years, the road led Laura to the resorts of upstate New York's fabled Catskill Mountains, where she practiced her craft performing with numerous bands and learned to sing in a variety of genres and styles.

Through it all, Laura also maintained a day job in the investment banking world of Wall Street, and in 1981, put her ambitions as a performer on hold to focus on her business career. However, her true passion could not be ignored, and Laura redirected her energies to resurrect her music career. In 2003, with the help of some friends, she launched her return to the stage by developing a one-woman cabaret show, No Regrets, which played to excellent notices during a successful tri-city run, and in that same year, recorded a 3-song EP, "Here I Go Again." Soon thereafter, Laura was a regular part of the NYC music scene, meeting and networking with a diverse assortment of musicians and performers. Before long she was leading a jazz trio, singing in a vocal ensemble, and serving as a fulltime performing songwriter.

Laura's current repertoire is comprised of a wide-range of standards from the Great American Songbook and her original compositions. Laura performs in the New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut area, and appears weekly at the Westin Governor Morris Hotel, in Morristown, NJ.

If that’s not enough to keep her busy, Laura also lends her voice as one-third of the unique vocal ensemble, 3 For The Show, and serves on the Board of Directors for the New Jersey Jazz Society.

Still, the journey for Laura is just beginning. She deeply respects her musical roots and tirelessly works at polishing her craft. And, you can bet that she will continue to write many more songs about reflection, perspective, and acceptance.
