There are no borders for this Santa Cruz based 9-piece as they deftly explore the sub-genres of latin music. Their mix of salsa, latin-jazz and pop create a fresh groove-filled CD that both salseros and non-salseros will appreciate.
Bio / Background
Bandleader Rob Malkin draws upon his varied skills as a pianist, guitarist, and arranger to choose and interpret the selections like no one else. The band's three female singers, led by gifted vocalist Leti Candalaria and backed by the voices and percussion of Jeannie Muller and Laura Masterson, put on a mesmerizing Spanish-English performance that draws fans from both cultures. Sax ace Wes Anthony and trumpeter John Escalera supply the horns while the tumbao is firmly established by Mark Takeuchi on bass, Steven Vahle on drums, and Kevin Di Noto on congas.
