The last days' sound combines Alternative Rock with Classic/American rock.
Bio / Background
THE LAST DAYS is proof positive that real rock'n roll is alive and thriving in a smokey bar on the far side of town. The New Jersey quartet has a real knack for finding the right hook, and drawing you into their world. The debut album "like when we were kids" is packed with electrifying tunes that will sweep you up off the floor. Their music fuses a visionary sensibility to modern alternative rock, with results that would surprise even the most pessimistic critic. This isn't your run of the mill Top 40 crap. The Last Days' music is filled with intelligent well-crafted songs.
The band formed formed in August 2001 from the jam sessions of singer Matthew Venella, a solo artist from NJ who spent years perfecting his craft in Santa Cruz, CA and guitarist Greg Gatti, who paid his dues in the NY & Seattle music scenes. They met by chance in the town of New Hope, PA, where they began writing material and cultivating a unique sound that rivals the greatest rock bands of the past and present.
↓ more ↓Drummer Steve Ackerman and bassist Pat Giordano completed the puzzle of a dynamic and talented young band in the making.
Like a lucid dream, Venella's voice forges a pathway into your heart, mind and soul. His lyrics read like confessions, especially on songs like "Television," where he conjures up the image of a lost love revisited. The band creates the kind of passionate, sharp-edged rock that is less obsessed with the world today, and more concerned with how it makes you feel to be alive.
The new 8 song debut CD is a blend of hard and soft dynamics, driven by both a "wall of sound" rock guitar and crushingly beautiful acoustic guitar work. The music is thoroughly engaging, and captures the intensity of their infectious live energy. The album was recorded and produced with engineers Jim Sweeney(Creeper Lagoon, Glasstown)and Claude Coleman from the band "Ween."
