Little House
Larry Rice
Many kinds of music speak to Larry, and there’s a room for each in Little House. Up-front is the country room with an up-tempo beat and humorous or reflective lyrics. It’s back to his fiddling roots in the kitchen with three traditional instrumentals. Pop is given a room, too, and it’s jazzy back in the bedroom.
One song, Love Time, is his answer to the challenge from Larry’s long-time friend and harmonica man, Bob Lambert, to write a song that could be played on smooth jazz (think Barry White meets Stefan Grapelli). Out back in the garden is where you can find Larry’s favorite gospel hymn.
Featuring Washington DC music legends Larry Tapper, Andrew Acosta, Barb Atherton and George R. Hickey Jr., as well as Texas pedal steel and blues guitar legend LB Roath, the energy and attitude is pouring out of the Little House!
Larry Rice’s love of entertaining has taken him to some unusual places.
↓ more ↓From playing rock and Motown for soldiers when he was 12, to playing fiddle on the street or playing violin as part of a singing telegram or gorilla-gram act, sharing his love of music has filled his life.
As part of the legendary Ohio country-rock act, Flatbush, Larry has appeared on-stage with the New Riders of the Purple Sage, Richie Metlock of Blackfoot and the Outlaws, and Little Feat. Flatbush was a touring/recording act for seven years in the late 70’s/early 80’s, and still reunites annually in Ohio.
Larry’s current projects include teaching fiddle and guitar, playing country with his brother Steve in the Rice Brothers Band, and eclectic pop with his daughters Lea and Shannon in Big Cheese.

Review of “Little House” by Xavier P. for RadioIndy.com!RadioIndy wrote on September 25, 2007
“Little House” by the vibrant Larry Rice is an impressive collection of country tunes! The instrumentation on this CD is awesome – the fiddle and harmonica effortlessly steal the spotlight! Additionally, Larry’s vocals are very engaging and interactive, filled with fun personality. The upbeat “Red State Blue State” gives listeners a glimpse into Larry’s humorous side. “Two-Step Too” shows off some enticing harmonica riffs and graceful fiddle arrangements. The ballad “I Cry” steps to a slower pace, and shows off both Larry’s musical and vocal diversity. When all is said and done, “Little House” can deservingly be called a well-produced audio masterpiece! Fans of Dwight Yoakam and fun country music will fall in love with this houseful of hits!
