An ambient sonic atmosphere, blending unique synthetic textures, rich analog waves and digital samples. Individual tracks are unified by a concept of water - immersed in a sonorous reverberation of introspection
Bio / Background
John Broaddus (AKA Laocoon) creates lush and languid sounds that prevail in the genre of space music or electronic new age, without the emphasis on a driving melodic form. The artist invents instruments, voices and unique sample edits that infuse the work with a grittier, or darker texture, contrapuntal to the aforementioned styles and reminiscent of the industrial genre-without utilizing definable loops or easily recognizable rhythms characteristic of industrial music or dance tracks. Furthermore, John constructs an introspective sonic environment by not necessarily imposing traditional notions of musical structure.
John is fascinated by the undiscovered textural potential electronic instruments allow in his compositions. The process of composing is directly connected to the discovery of sonic events through experimentation and improvisation. Johns music is meant to create an atmosphere that encourages introspection and meditation.
↓ more ↓It is music that can easily live in the background but is also capable of allowing the focused listener the depth for sonic exploration.
David J Opdyke - AmbiEntrance
Immersion is the kind of release that adds an extra bit of joy to my "job." A truly deserving work.
Chuck van Zyl - STAR'S END
Transportive, deep, dark, damp ambience; ethereal yet organic soundworlds; Immersion is brilliant in its simplicity, compelling in its depth.
Hans Stoeve - Power Spot - Australia
Drones, repetition and simple harmonies, lulling all that partake into a state of deep relaxation. Comes highly recommended.
Jim Brenholts
This great CD is spiritual, soulful and awe-inspiring. This is some of the finest atmospheric minimalism available. Also essential!
