Bio / Background
Lalaland was formed back in 1991 as a vehicle for musicians and songwriters Phil Marshall (guitar & vox) and Jim Huie (drums). Having created several demos on Jim’s trusty four-track, it soon became necessary to flesh out the line-up with Bill King on bass and Gary Skinner on guitar and vox in order to start playing club dates in upstate NY.
The band received good reviews at local clubs in Rochester, NY but folded after two years having released a 45 single, Six Bullet Dream/I’ll Make Somebody Pay, and one track (Close to Home) on the Popfest compilation. Phil revived the band with a new line-up in ’94.
It wasn’t until ’96 that a line-up was stable enough to enter the studio to begin work on an official CD release. W/ drummer Carl Glitzer, bassist Ken Frank and returning member Gary Skinner, the songs that eventually found their way onto NUDE were recorded.
Money and time constraints kept the CD on the shelf for another two years.
