Bio / Background

Sarah Elizabeth Coleman IS Ladytown:

Born in the California Desert, raised in the eastern most city of Los Angeles County, Sarah is a cowgirl.... sort of.

Armed with her guitar, Ladytown sets out to take a modern day look at traditional American music and themes; love, loss, infidelity and hope. Approaching her song writing from a sometimes humorous and sometimes painful point of view. Initially Sarah wanted to write ONLY CHINESE Country songs, but due to her limited knowledge of the language, wrote but one.

Sarah has been performing in bands since the age of 14. Having played in an all girl reggae band to fronting her own alt-country duo, as a teenager she shared the stage with the likes of Los Lobos and David Lindley. She was also an honorary member of the indie band, The Mountain Goats. In the year 2000 Sarah quit what she called "the worlds most unhappy band" and became "Ladytown".
