Drawing Sarah McLachlan and Natalie Merchant comparisons, Kimberly's voice captures you at her first word. Strong and full of passion, her voice can fill up a room and make complete strangers a captivated audience.
Bio / Background
Twenty-seven year old Kimberly Summer rocks. Wielding a guitar and a psychology degree, Kimberly Summer draws her songs from the world around her, using her uncommon perspective to bring out the unique from the seemingly mundane.
With a collection of over fifty original songs, Kimberly is no stranger to writing. And even though her songs are simplistic in style, her lyrics-the focus of her music-are anything but simple. Introspective and open ended, Kimberly's multi-layered lyrics play out like a choose-your-own-ending novel. With songs of love, faith, failure, and dreams, there is no avenue her words do not explore.
But words are nothing without a voice, and Kimberly certainly has the voice. Drawing Sarah McLachlan and Natalie Merchant comparisons, Kimberly's voice captures her audience at her first word. Bringing the words and the voice together is Kimberly's soft handle of her trademark red Alvarez guitar. The result: heartfelt folk/rock originals.

A Hoosier by birth, Kimberly left her hometown of West Lafayette, IN, for the beaches of St. Augustine, FL, when it came time for college. While earning an Honors degree at Flagler College, Kimberly gained precious writing material and honed her talents while amazingly keeping them hidden, choosing her audience to be only the walls of her room. But her first public performance in 2000 forever changed her, and after that night, she never turned back--her music was then her life's passion. She began playing at every venue possible, and after recording a six song EP, A Dreamer's Heart, Kimberly took her act to the road in the summer of 2002 for three months of promotion. Her first tour, spanning FL, GA, SC, NC, TN, KY, and IN, was a success, as Kimberly gained valuable stage experience and the always memorable road trip adventures.
After her marriage and move from Florida to North Carolina-both in 2003-Kimberly's music has renewed confidence, direction, and purpose. Most recently, with the help of Asheville producer Chris Rosser and other Asheville based musicians, River Guerguerian and Joe Ebel, she finished a new CD titled "Listen" in April. With much anticipation, this 13 song CD was released on May 7, 2005. Her summer tour included major stops in Indiana, North Carolina, and Florida. Other stops also included Chicago and parts of Georgia and South Carolina.
A resident of Asheville, NC, Kimberly plays regularly for the young men of Christ School (Arden) and the surrounding Asheville area, with weekly/monthy performances at: Well-Bred Bakery (Weaverville), The Lobster Trap (Asheville), Earthfare Café (Asheville), The Encouraging Cup (Fletcher) The Back Room (Flat Rock), and Terra Nova Cafe (Hendersonville).
