If Eric Clapton was a chick he'd sound like this. Country Rock with a strong blues influence.
Bio / Background
Here's the hard part. I try and tell you my life story on one page. Okay, here we go.
First of all music has always been inside me. When there was no way to play a radio, I went outside by myself and made up my own songs. By the age of 9 or 10 I knew what I wanted to be...That's right...A Star!!! So, as I get closer to my dreams I am really excited to share this experience and my music on my website!
I was very, very, shy and about 12 years old the first time I sang on stage. I sang "I Will Always Love You" by Dolly Parton. My mom cried and I've been wearing my emotions on my shirt sleeve ever since. The first song I learned on guitar was "Storms Never Last" by Waylon Jennings (and Jessie). Then to prove to my dad that girls can play too I learned "Pipeline" by the Ventures. I still love all of these songs!
I was born in upstate N.Y. in 1967 and moved to Arizona in 1980. By 1983 I was in a little band with my step dad Charlie, playing a solid wood B.C. Rich guitar.
↓ more ↓I wish I had known more about guitars back then because I would have kept that one! We played in Apache Junction and Mesa then began traveling through the Southwestern states around 1984 to 1986.
I left to play in Laughlin Nevada for a couple of years (off and on) doing gigs at the Riverside Casino and Gnats Landing. Returning to Phoenix in 1990, I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. I had complications with the birth so I was out of the music scene for a little while. From 1992 to 1994 I played in two fun bands mostly around the Chandler and Mesa areas. In 1994 I traveled to Branson, Missouri for a contest, which I won. I went back to Branson four weeks later and was hired right off the stage by Moe Bandy. Three weeks later I moved there with my mom and daughter and played and traveled with Moe Bandy for almost a year. I must say, I met some of the nicest people there. If I wasn't longing for more from my career, I would have stayed. It's quite lonely there and the band became really tight friends. While I was there I recorded a ten song demo tape and sold about four hundred of them. Wow!!
I returned to Arizona in 1995 and I was ready to play but vowed not to just play the bar scene anymore. In 1998 I joined the Darkhorse Band and I'm still currently playing with them. They introduced me to the world of corporate gigs. The jobs payed better but I found that I was missing some of the free spirit and excitement of club life. Now I mostly play corporate gigs with Darkhorse, a few night clubs and also a couple of solo gig here and there.
This CD seemed like it took a while to get done. It was tough to work and try to fit the sessions into everyone's schedules. I didn't realize how many musician friends I had until it was time to record this CD. Everyone donated their time and talent. As always, with more time and money this CD could have been better, but it's my first and just like my child I'm proud of it.
My goals...I would love to do concerts and record longer than fish stay in water! I'd also love to make videos of my songs and find my way to a recording contract. I've found it's easy to jump off track and lose direction but my track is laid in steel now. My dreams will never be changed but perhaps compromised and set aside occasionally due to life's challenges. I will continue to hold on to my dreams, or what some people call goals, until no breath is left in me. I have faith that success, internal peace, happiness and love can happen and I cannot be angry because it hasn't come yet. Something so incredible, like living your dream, is not given to you or accomplished unless you're willing to embrace your mistakes, your rewards, and your blessings. In my 33 years, (mostly the past 5 to 10 years), I pray day by day to grow, to be a good mother, to fix my faults, my qualities, and conquer my hurdles, because nothing will last unless it's nurtured inside and out. I'm strong and can handle what is put in front of me.
So...RCA, Columbia, Epic, or anyone else if you're listening...Bring it on!!!
