Catchy riff-rock influenced by both 70's hard rock and post-Nirvana grunge.
Bio / Background
"Koncrete Kite seems to draw upon a variety of influences which they bring together nicely in almost every song. They seem to have a classic rock foundation, while utilizing contemporary chord patterns with an almost modern punk/grunge sound." - Tampa Bay Musician
"Catchy riff-rock influenced by both 70's hard rock and post-Nirvana grunge..." - NBCi.com
"The band combines the best bar band indulgences -- crazy drum fills, crunchy guitar, power chords, with a distinctly Southern flavor. Guitarist/vocalist Joe Bove's mumbly Southern delivery, sounds like vintage R.E.M., for heaven's sake. But Koncrete Kite isn't afraid to tackle a bit of ska too." - St. Petersburg Times
"Starting the album with thundering guitars, menacing beats, and a familiar phrase that ends with "and the horse you rode on", Tampa area quartet Koncrete Kite's first impression is of a nasty-tempered Pearl Jam.
↓ more ↓Opening track "Wish You", as well as "DeNiro" and "Mojo", are full of vitriol, but Koncrete Kite's musical and lyrical boundaries stretch far beyond that. There's the cautionary "Horseshoe Hand Grenade" and the encouraging "Punch Bug Blue". Musically, the band is as capable of grand arrangements and rich melodies, as on "Soul Junkie", as it is the serrated riffs of "Ecstatic Fanatic"." - Tampa Tribune
"...varies from straight rock to downright ass-bruisin' hard rock (with often a southern vocal and guitar flavor). A good listen overall. Old Nirvana and even C.C.R. come to mind as comparisons, but these guys aren't afraid to throw in a little punk-style song writing here and there. Good beer drinkin', head-bobbin' beats, as well as tastefully crafted lyrics (not too complex, but not weak or at a 3rd grade level). This band is wholly composed of brothers too! Pretty cool." - Deek from WBCN
"Now here's a quartet that likes to switch things up. Generally, they're a rock band in the purest sense of the word -the wild, wild guitars and voluminous bass lines ride with authority over the top of monstrous drum cadences, and lead singer Joe Bove (one of four brothers in the band) wakes both shrill and throaty in his charismatic vocalizations. They've got an LA. rock vibe, sometimes showy and full of some glam influences, but then they shift gears and go into amphetamine overdrive with an urgency that damn near approaches the tone and caliber of punk-pop. Drummer Rich Bove displays great dynamics, alternately thrashing and restraining himself accordingly. Bassist Chris Bove manages a tasty tone throughout the entire album. Sometimes surreal lyrics paint pictures of isolation and desolation. Insightful stuff for a bunch of rockers - there's a lot to love here." - Jam Magazine
