Songs about dogs written from both a dog's point of view and a dog lover's. The musical style's on this CD are as diverse as the dogs in the songs.
Bio / Background
Hello dog lover. I guess you found me by Googling “songs about dogs” online. My name is Kirk Olsen and I love dogs. I’m not going to pretend to be someone else writing a review of this music and talking about myself in the third person. It may sound boastful but I think my songs are pretty good. I tried to get inside my dogs’ heads and imagine what they would say if they could talk. In fact the first dog song I wrote was “If My Dog Could Talk”. I was living with my dog, Murphy, in a cramped apartment, in New York city. I was playing my guitar, probably working on a song I never finished, when I noticed Murphy had as sad a look on his face as a dog can have. I was pretty sure if he could talk he would say “Please, please, stop singing, put down that guitar, and let’s go outside and play.” So I wrote a song about it. Eventually I wrote eleven more songs inspired by Murphy, his pal Buster, and other dogs I have met along the way. I am very proud of these songs.
↓ more ↓I think they speak the truth about the most wonderful animal on the planet. I am forever amazed at the unconditional love, dedication, enthusiasm, and joy our canine companions give us. And as a wise man once said “I wish I were half the man my dog thinks I am.” I could go on and on but, even now, as I write this, I’m thinking I should get off my butt, grab a tennis ball, and go play fetch with my dog. Before I go I‘d like to thank all the people that have taken the time to write the wonderful reviews below, and to thank my wife, Lucy, for her love and support of this project, and, most of all, to thank Murphy and Buster who live on in my heart and are still the stars of this album as they float around in that blue raft on their album cover. Sincerely, Kirk Olsen www.dogsongs.net
