Bio / Background
Within a week after the release of 'Not Compatible With My System' (also availble HERE), The Kimberly Trip decided on something radical for today's musical climate: They started another disc! While on tour supporting their debut, they recorded on a portable digital studio and had the nucleus of the album finished while they were still achieving critical acclaim from the first album! These days, music fans usually have to wait in excess of 2 years to hear new material from a band, but The Kimberly Trip are at the forefront of a movement to get NEW product into fans hands every six to 10 months.
"This was a very non-traditional way of doing things, but it really paid off. We were able to debut new songs as they were written and by the end of the tour we had people requesting songs from this album before it was released! We write everyday, so I don't think it is unrealistic for our fans to have 3 albums from us by the end of 2004.

Another thing that helped boost the anticipation for 'Catastrophic Behavior' was the placement of the band's now tradmark song "Just What I Wanted" on the ABC Family Network.
"We had entered one of those international song contests because we thought it might be fun to see how we'd do. We NEVER imagined we'd win 'song of the year', but we did and the publicity it generated got us into the right people's hands."
Since then, 4 additional songs from this album have been signed to a publishing deal that focuses on TV placement. The band's modern, edgy sound makes them a great fit for television, and hopefully movie soundtracks in the near future.
"Hearing our stuff on TV is great, but we really just love that so many more people get to hear what we are all about. We just want to spread our message that it's okay to be a nerd, and that no self-esteem problem is too big to be solved with laughter. If someone is moved enough to listen to our music, or laugh at one of our shirts, then we feel we've really contributed to someone's happiness and that makes our day!"
***editor's note Their shirts ARE funny! They say things like "I Really Hate Your Band", "Turn The Suck Knob Down", and "I'm on the Short Bus to Geek School"...all phrases taken from their very imaginative and quirky lyrics.***
