Bio / Background
Ken Myers is a Cleveland,Ohio based recording artist and Composer of ambient, new age and film music. Using the best in software synthesizers and other computer tools he constructs musical soundscapes with extraordinary vision. His use of midi and audio captures his personal style, an ethereal foundation with contemporary percussive elements which serves to keep his listeners involved in the listening experience.
Mr.Myers has been composing and recording music since 1985 His very first synth, an old Casio CZ-5000 with an on-board multi track sequencer, gave way to many other synthesizers later and a Tascam 4 track tape recorder. He came across new age music listening to local college radio. The first artist to impress him was Klaus Schulze from The Tangerine Dream, electronic music pioneers. He eventually heard Tim Story (at the time, a Windham Hill artist) and found his 'style' to be most influential.
Self taught since adopting the keyboard as his main instrument, Mr.
↓ more ↓Myers' compositions are reflections of the evolving nature of his originality, and is carried over into his music. He released a cassette of his musings "Deep Visions" (no longer in distribution), and enjoyed substantial college radio airplay and good sales in the Cleveland area. He was called 'one of the most original artists the region had seen in quite some time. His music has been distributed over the internet in the form of Midi Files for many years, and he is known for many of his midi works as far away as Portugal.
The opening track on 'A Quiet Passion' pays homage to Ken Myers' early days of writing music, four track recorder in tow, a Dx7 synth and basic ideas and concepts for production. "Beginning Life" is the start of a project began shortly after Ken's release from the hospital and his initial bout with colon cancer. With plenty of time on his hands and a need for relaxing music to comfort him during his chemo and radiation treatments, the tracks came to life and made his treatments much more easier to bear. His hopes is these tracks will do the same for others, whether to help heal or just plain relieve tension after a hard day.
The tracks on "A Quiet Passion" include "The Right Side Of Wrong", a piece that begins simple enough and then evolves into a light guitar roaring romp at the end. This is the nature of many of these tracks on this release.
